Polished concrete floors in Midland and Odessa finish the slab you already have rather than covering it. Warrior Epoxy grinds the concrete through progressively finer diamond tooling, densifies it so the surface hardens, then polishes to the sheen you want. The result takes forklift and foot traffic without a coating to peel. Get a polished concrete quote.
Polished concrete is not a coating and not a sealer sitting on top of the floor. The slab itself is mechanically ground with diamond tooling in a series of passes, treated with a chemical densifier that reacts inside the concrete to harden the surface, and then refined until it reflects light. Nothing is added that can delaminate later, which is why it suits warehouses, showrooms and retail spaces.
Both have a place, and the honest answer depends on the slab and the use.
Polished concrete suits a sound slab where the owner wants a hard, low maintenance surface with nothing to peel. It is the stronger option for heavy wheel traffic and long service life.
Epoxy and polyaspartic garage coatings suit slabs with staining, patching or surface damage, or any space that needs a specific color, full chemical resistance or a seamless finish for a commercial kitchen floor.
Decorative overlays suit concrete too damaged to polish, where a new wearing surface is the better answer.
We look at the slab before recommending one over the other, because a floor with heavy patching, a soft troweled surface or large areas of repair will not polish evenly, and no amount of grinding changes that.
Polished concrete is specified two ways, and both are worth deciding before work starts.
A cream finish keeps the surface paste intact and gives the most uniform look. A salt and pepper finish exposes fine sand. A full aggregate finish grinds deeper and exposes the stone in the mix.
Ground and honed finishes look matte and hide marks well. Polished and high gloss finishes reflect more light, which brightens a warehouse considerably, though a glossier floor also shows dust sooner.
Polished floors go into warehouses and distribution space, automotive showrooms, retail floors, offices, event venues and West Texas homes with open plan living areas. They handle the dust and grit of the Permian Basin well, because there is no surface film to abrade through.
